Material: Living artist, white gown, hibiscus leaves, river, Prince Nico Mbarga’s Sweet Mother

Description: To the tune of Prince Nico Mbarga’s Sweet Mother, the artist submerges herself nose deep into the river and struggles to remain above the water. The pack of hibiscus she carries under her dress dies the clothes and makes the river run red.

Considering the metonic conations of the red stains made by the hibiscus leaves in the river, the project alludes to practice of menstruation, bloodletting, birth, pain and renewal.
